Our office maintains a list of Chief Defender Offices in New York State. It includes contact information for statewide and local public defenders, legal aid societies, and assigned counsel programs that provide criminal defense and related services
for people unable to afford counsel. This list is periodically updated. NYSDA Chief Defenders List (PDF).
Some public defender offices provide mandated representation in both criminal courts and Family Court. In some counties, a separate entity provides Family Court representation. Programs providing Family Court representation are listed in a separate document.
