About Us
The New York State Defenders Association (NYSDA) provides support to New York's public defense community. Our mission is to improve the quality and scope of publicly supported legal representation to low income people. We also work to advance equitable justice, including racial justice, in the criminal and family legal systems. NYSDA is a not-for-profit, membership organization created in 1967.

In its day-to-day affairs, programs and services, membership, and employment, NYSDA does not discriminate regardless of race, color, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, familial status, military status, predisposing genetic characteristics, domestic violence victim status, condition of current or previous servitude or incarceration, or any other protected class.
