It is inevitable that our clients may be incarcerated, participate in inpatient treatment or suffer a health emergency, or that a noncitizen will face deportation from the U.S. What happens when these individuals have children or property that may be left behind temporarily or permanently?

This CLE will explore the legal measures available to plan for the well-being of a client’s family, as well as their home and/or small business, where applicable. These include a discussion on parental designations, guardianships, educational rights, and powers of attorney to make certain the children’s caretaker has the legal rights to act in the child’s best interest in educational, financial and medical matters, among other family concerns.
