Fact Finding Hearings Report:

In 2003-2004, NYSDA, with its Client Advisory Board and partners such as the League of Women Voters of New York State, conducted a series of hearings soliciting testimony from clients and client advocates concerning the quality of public defense in New York State.

In 1998, NYSDA, along with The Leagues of Women Voters of New York State, New York City, Rochester, Syracuse, and Albany, conducted four hearings on public defense services and issues surrounding representation of indigent clients in New York State. The testimony from these hearings documented the current state of public defense services in New York and helped to affect public policy and improve the quality of public defense representation.
