The Backup Center maintains a clearinghouse of information essential to policy makers on issues such as alternatives to incarceration, assigned counsel fees, early entry of counsel, eligibility, expert services, funding, investigative services, monitoring, quality of representation, and training. The Public Defense Backup Center Report, NYSDA's training newsletter, is published ten times a year. It contains case digests of recent, significant appellate decisions, legislative highlights, practice notes, a training events calendar, and news of interest to criminal defense lawyers.
