The Special Assistant manages the activities of the Office of Indigent Legal Services (OILS) related to the distribution of grants and funds. The incumbent of this position will work closely with the Director and Agency Counsel and will be responsible for reviewing confidential case data and preparing initiatives for the Director's approval pursuant to the provisions of Executive Law 832(3)(a)–(k). This activity requires an understanding of legal concepts, statutory interpretation, and attorney-client privilege.
