Law Student Division
The next generation of public defense lawyers will be drawn from today's law students.
Encouraging and fostering in law students a strong commitment to equal justice and quality defense representation is critical to the vitality of our nation's criminal defense bar. NYSDA's Law Student Division strives to promote interest in defense services in law students by actively involving them in the Association's work. This is particularly important today when law students are rarely exposed to the defense perspective and often face huge educational loans that force many to turn down public interest work in favor of higher paying positions.
Law Student members must be currently enrolled in a law school and be in sympathy with the objects and purposes of the Association. A member of the law student division can be elected to sit on the Board of Directors of the Association.
